Si tratta, appunto, dei 12 Comandamenti della traduzione letteraria, ma in gran parte valgono anche per la traduzione tecnica.... e sarebbe bene che tutti quelli che fanno questo lavoro se li stampassero in fronte 
1. Thou shalt honor thine author and thy reader.
2. Thou shalt not "improve" upon the original.
3. Thou shalt read the source text in its entirety before beginning.
4. Thou shalt not guess.
5. Thou shalt consult thine author and other native speakers.
6. Thou shalt consult earlier translations only after finishing thine own.
7. Thou shalt possess - and use - a multitude of reference works.
8. Thou shalt respect other cultures.
9. Thou shalt perceive and honor register and tone, that thy days as
translator may be long.
10. Thou shalt not commit purple prose.
11. Thou shalt maintain familiarity with the source language culture.
12. Thou shalt fear no four-letter word where appropriate.
